How to Make the Most of Your Yoga Class

3 Simple Recommendations to Help You Receive More

How Classical Hatha Yoga actually works is mysterious to most of us, and it is traditionally described as being transmitted rather than taught. How effectively it impacts your life can depend on how well you receive what's being offered. So here are my three suggestions to enable you to allow for your highest possibility to happen for yourself.

1) Have No Expectations

Leave all you have heard, or all you may think you know about yoga at the door with your footwear please. The more you can approach it with an open mind, as if it is all new to you, the more you are set to gain. Here, preconceived notions or other learnings you think you may build on, may actually serve as a block to your learning instead of bolstering your knowledge.

2) Really Set Your Intent

Whether it's the intent to do the practice following the instructions to the best of your ability, or the intent to get something specific out of it, set your intent to really give the practice a chance and allow it to work for you in your life. This includes respecting the conditions of practice as being there for your own best interests, and giving it some patience and dedicated time. You can consider your commitment in the practice as a commitment to you.

3) See Yourself as Fortunate

Happily, you can think of yourself as immensely lucky to have found yourself drawn to Classical Yoga. Traditionally, its believed finding a genuine path of Yoga is a blessing that appears only after many lifetimes of seeking! In any case, having a sense of thankfulness, appreciation and gratitude for having the opportunity to practice goes a long way in preparing us to receive more from it.

These suggestions may not be new to you, but they are powerful tools you can make use of to have the best experience. And I'd like nothing more for you than for you to have your own relationship with what I consider the most valuable thing in my life, my Isha Hatha Yoga practice.
